The Pinarello Prince FX Disc Road Frameset is a mid-range racing bike on Pinarello's hierarchy. However, when the Dogma F12 is the model on which the FX's trickle-down design is based, any perceived shortcoming is more than outmatched by the frameset's elite qualities. The FX Disc benefits in several ways from Pinarello's Dogma F12. Complete with world-class, FlatBack, aerodynamic tube shaping and stiff, high-modulus T900 3K carbon fiber, and Pinarello's TiCR (Total Internal Cable Routing), the FX Disc is a racing bike that remains accessible and comfortable for the everyday rider. The FX Disc comes with reshaped geometry that takes the edge off the racing-specific orientation of the Dogma F12 for a more endurance approach while remaining a fully-capable and eager race bike. The ride is a touch softer via reduced diameters at the downtube and chainstays, compared to the Dogma F12. The reduced width helps create a more compliant ride vertically, without sacrificing lateral stiffness, and in the case of the chainstays, actually increasing lateral stiffness by 10%. Pair that with Pinarello's asymmetric frame design, which moves the frame towards the drive-side to reduce deflection under high-energy pedaling, and the FX Disc performs exceptionally well under hard accelerations and race-pace efforts. The frameset uses Pinarello's ONDA fork with ForkFlap for aerodynamic gains and precision steering and handling. This version is designed with flat-mounts for disc brake calipers, to follow the hot-trend of disc brake wheelsets and hydraulic braking systems. Pinarello uses a full carbon left-side dropout on this model to save a few grams and tie it closer to the elite characteristics of the Dogma F12. And there's enough room to clear 28mm tires to keep pace with modern trends in wheel design and to seek out a smoother ride and reduced rolling resistance.
