While some may argue that modern full-suspension bikes are just as capable and snappy when it comes to cross country racing, we'd beg to differ. There's something to be said for the undeniable power of a hardtail, especially when you're soaring up ribbons of single track with a podium on your mind. When it comes to cross-country racing, Pivot's LES has long been a favorite of ours, and in its latest generation it's streamlined for further domination. Pivot's new LES SL scales down its weight, and skips the swap-able drop out system for full carbon, streamlining this race rocket so that you don't have to carry any extra weight with you on ultra-endurance and cross country races. With a size medium frame weighing in at only 2. 3lb, the LES SL scales in well over half a pound lighter than its predecessor. That doesn't mean this bike flexes like a wet noodle under power though, because Pivot's expertise in carbon fiber allows them to craft a frame with a high stiffness to weight ratio, all while maintaining the legendary ride quality that Pivot is known for. The LES SL achieves this slimmed down profile thanks to a new carbon lay-up that uses Pivot's proven Hollow Core Molding Technology in conjunction with cutting edge raw materials to create a frame that is both lightweight and stiff, but also has perfectly-tuned compliance so you don't get too beat up when the going gets rough. Pivot also made the switch to a fully integrated headset, which saves additional grams and also lowers the stack height--both good things for the discerning rider and racer...
